Modern Living Room

Description:

The modern style of our living room is comfortable and inviting. We love the way the teal accent wall complements the neutral tones in this room. I especially love the way the accent wood above the fireplace and the built in TV unit tie without drawing too much attention to the TV.

This is a really nice living room. It looks put together and yet comfortable. Did you get professional help or did you do this yourself?

I love this space! Really love your choice of colors, shapes and textures. You’re giving people a lot to look at while giving people an inviting, casual yet sophisticated space. Your fireplace focal point is exquisite—I’d love to see a little more of it. I think if your orange ceramic were moved a little to the left, closer to the plant, the beauty of the fireplace would stand out even more. The red-orange would look great next to the plant, since red and green are dynamic complementary colors, and the variation in heights would work well. How about moving that tall ceramic holding the sticks somewhere else? Your choices of cushions, ottomans and accent pieces are perfect. I’d love to hang out here!

I especially like the big screen TV! It looks part of the room.

Was the built in TV cabinetry expensive to do? Did you have room behind the wall to allow for the TV and equipment. This is a great touch.

I admire your use of colors on the adjacent walls. There's so much going on that all I can say is wow - great job. Are you an interior designer?

What an eclectic living and dinning room. It a mix of modern meets island style that somehow work well together. It's sleek and cozy all at the same time.

The use of two different textures, stone and wood, on the fireplace make it look rich. The wood also drives your eye up to the ceiling creating the illusion of a taller room.

The room really does convey warmth. I would also add a green floor plant to the seating area.

I love how you incorporated what we learned at RSVPstyle about layering your textures and varying your heights and proportions. This room looks sophisticated yet not overly done!

Thank you for all the nice compliments. Since the remodel we really put this room to good use. It's the center of the house and its perfect for entertaining and comfortable enough that our kids enjoy it too.

do i detect complementary colors here? darkish reds w/ the teal-green accent wall. unexpected; works well. favorite features: pullout stools under coffee table, round art-nouveau dining chairs; that fun checkered ottoman! this wd make a good room to imitate.
