Updating our kitchen

Description:

This project did not involve any structural changes, it was just updating the appliances, counters and cabinets. We refinished and stained all the cabinets. The counter tops were extended to add work space. Cabinets were added under the newly expanded counters. We added crown moulding throughout the kitchen too.

Wow what a difference. The new countertops, paint, and cabinet touches really update and add to your space. Great job. Did you do it all yourself?

Very nice kitchen. The black countertops give this a rich feel. Did this take you a while to do. How much did this remodel cost you?

It certainly looks more updated, warm and inviting. The granite countertops are beautiful. One thought: I’m not sure if you’ve included this, but have you installed under-cabinet lighting to really show off your top-quality countertops and backsplash? Under-cabinet lighting really comes in handy for food prep work as well. It’s not too late. You could run wiring through your upper cabinets. A reveal on the doors extending at least ¾ inch below the bottom of the cabinets would hide the lighting; if you don’t have a reveal, you can add a trim. (Get an opinion from a cabinet installer and leave the work to a qualified electrician.) Overall great job!
