Stairwell and bedroom

Description:

These photos show parts of our recently completed 1,400 SF addition. Our stairwell features accent walls that look like the exterior walls of a house. The idea was to hang canoe paddles, surfboards, and other items associated with the ocean or outdoors on these walls as a point of interest.

The girls' bedroom has peach/pink walls with an accent wall with a color called "Strawberry Crush."

The guest bedroom has a warmer palette with dark-stained Indonesian wood furniture. This is the room behind the green walls shown in the stairwell.

The rooms are not yet being occupied and other than beds and a dresser and nightstand in the guest bedroom, we haven't made any progress on completing the interior design. We're looking for ideas on how to furnish these rooms/spaces to provide an element of surprise, perhaps a mix-match of things old and new that will give the spaces a clean and uncluttered look.

I love the choice of colors on the walls. Your home has a quaint charm to it. I like the outdoor look of the stairwell. I think the canoe paddles, and surfboard idea is a great one. It will give it the feel of a casual island beach style. I like the girls rooms. I can see some white dressers similar to the ones in Pottery Barn and maybe you can add a small working table in the corner or against a wall for the girls to draw or do homework on.

wow, u're color-advanced! u love monochromatic schemes, and i've never seen one add as much energy as the shades in ur pink room. have u thought abt contrasting accents? for pink u could go w/ lighter shades of pastel greens, maybe, and for ur yellow room the natural contrast would be a shade of purple. i really love how so not afraid of color u are! btw, first reaction to the green stairwell w/ white trim was that it looks cozy, calming, inviting.

Love the colors. It might be great to add some textures! Great job!

The colors are very cheerful and provide the feel of being on vacation. Simple white accent furniture would work nicely in your daughter's room to balance the color an coordinate with the clean white trim.
