Solid surface can be cut, routed, drilled, sculpted, bent or worked like fine wood. Unlike natural stone, its nonporous surface never needs sealing. With proper cleaning, the certified kosher material resists the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Solid surface remains stable and undamaged in temperatures of up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, but very high heat or flame will damage the surface. Although it is heat- and scratch-resistant, Hidano does advise that a trivet with rubber feet or a hot pad be placed under hot pots.
