When building or remodeling, it’s important to know where the materials that will be used to complete your project come from. Are they safe and non-toxic? Does the manufacturer stand behind the product? Does the supplier have complete product knowledge?
Shop around, use the Internet, and DON’T let price be the deciding factor. Develop a set of priorities that has been thought through very carefully. Spend more on things that will be used the most: The more durable the item, the longer it will last, and in the long term it will probably end up saving you money.
Don’t let a contractor tell you what materials you can or cannot have. YOU’RE the boss; the contractor is your employee. Outline what you want, adjust the budget if necessary, and enjoy your new home.
