When planning a party, don’t overwhelm yourself. Let your guests see you enjoy yourself—it’s the most important component.
When throwing a party at your home, don’t try to do everything yourself—feel good about asking key friends to help you! Think of the five senses: The environment should be lit well, smell nice (try fresh cut flowers or baking cookies), have music that fits the mood, food that’s fresh, yummy and not heavy, and a comfortable space.
When hiring a band or a DJ and planning the program, think about at what times your guests will be talking, drinking, dancing or actively watching. What music and styles do you and your friends like? Do you want your music to be in the background or more of a focal point?
When looking for a location for your event or party, take into account all the total costs, rules and restrictions, convenience, freedom to decorate and the feeling you get while there.
