Design Dilemmas / Family Rooms

where to put the flat screen tv??

Description:

Please help. We are buying a home and in the family room where the tv/cable would go is this wall with the shelf/window/fireplace...
Now, they are pretty much forcing you to put your tv on the bottom right. We don't do those kinds of tv's. We have a 36" flat screen that gets mounted on the wall.
Any ideas? We don't mind covering up the top/bottom/or whatever. We've got a carpenter on hand. If we put the tv where the window is, I'm afraid we will strain our necks. We also don't want it too low.
The other walls have either big windows on them or are open to the formal living/dining area so there are no other walls to mount the tv on.
We are a tv family, so this is very important.
Thanks!

Maybe you should try a tv mounting kit with an arm. This will allow you to put the tv anywhere such as that high area with the window and then you could pull it out and tilt it down so you dont strain your necks. Good Luck!

Yeah, we thought of that but decided it felt too much like a doctor's office.

Can you post photos of the other walls in the room for more perspective?? It will really help to give advice...

Hang it from the ceiling maybe five inches in front of the windows wall so there would be a nice "aura" around the TV and you could still have some ventilation from the window. Also, it would mask the louvered look of your window while keeping it accessible. Ideally, some kind of chain/pulley system perhaps attached to a flat narrow secure but stylish base could give you more form with function and diversity but getting the right look for that would take a lot of searching...but it would be the best use of that unique space. Good luck.
