Any suggestions on arranging furniture? Perhaps adding a nice area rug to add color and define my living room space? I plan to replace the coffee/end tables.

Everything in the livingroom is at the same eye level. Perhaps add a floor lamp or a tall, silk plant in the corner. This would give more variety to your room. Your comment about adding an area rug is RIGHT ON!!! A rug would add texture and color.

Adding the area rug with pillow & accessory accents on the tables would brighten up this room. I like the plant in the corner idea and also painting one of the walls would warm up the space! You might have the couches face each other and have a table under the window - the couches look comfortable and the view would then be the focus.

The room looks bland. Need a splash of color. An area rug could be your inspiration and with that you can paint your room.

I love the valance and the lights....definatly letting go of the bookcase...a great idea....how about an amiore to hide the tv and wiring...angle the amoire into the right corner as we look at the room and change up the sofa arrangement. I agree that the room needs a color...a strong color to bring the room together as well as that accent rug... a dark color on the wall where the largest sofa is will frame the beautiful view outside..post your changes!!!

Because your kitchen and living room blend, I would add some colorful pots and dishtowels to the kitchen area which would tie in with that new and colorful rug. I like books, and would convert the wood to a white one, perhaps built in to fit the entire space, with white cabinets that close off the color, or glass fronts. With a glass-covered coffee table and some colorful pillows and plants, you will pull it together. It is a lovely and serene space!

This room has good bones and great potential. Take advantage of the georgeous view and don't be afraid to be bold and daring. Add energetic color to the place.

If at all possible, I would try to angle the couches towards the view, while still having the possibility to watch the television. If you had a projection TV, you could have a drop down screen that comes down over the windows at night, preserving your view by day!

Hard to see the layout of the room. It looks as if you have two of those gorgeous side chairs. If so, I'd put them together maybe with a small table between. It appears that you have a large wall unit as the focal point. What if you kept the couches where they are and put the two chairs on the other side to create a 'U' facing the wall unit? A nice area rug could pull it all together. Love the valences! They go well with your kitchen. Would you consider a warmer wall color? Maybe some art? The only other thing that I see are all of the electrical/etc. cords. Could you bundle them together and hide them. So much potential! Can't wait to see updated photos.

How about painting your walls a warm color to soften the white walls? Also, how about moving the sofa that's against the sliding doors to the other side and create an L seating arrangement to take advantage of the view out the sliding doors?

You've received some wonderful suggestions. I agree that new tables would be a good fix. Maybe something other than wood to layer the textures, but if you do decide to go with wood tables an area rug is a must! A tall plant in the corner would add color, height variation and life to the room. Some colorful pillows and a throw to the couches would add splashes of color to the room to liven it up a bit. Built in shelves spanning that back wall would be great for organization. You can build a spot to hang the tv, put pictures, and art pieces.

I think the room looks a little crowded. If you could get rid of some pieces the room would look bigger and more spacious. Some storage with doors to hide the clutter would also add to the spacious feel and organization. I also think that you could use some color on your walls to add some style to the room. I would love to see your updates as you do them!
