Description:
we have a huge mirrored wall in the dining area, a fire place in the living room (with a christmas fire place screen to keep the cats out of the fire place), a huge piano also in the living room near the door, wood flooring, white cabinets & white tiled floor in the kitchen......

Remove everything you don't need. The stuffed animal on the electronic equipment may not be the most sofisticated style statement! You could paint the fireplace screen to get rid of the Christmas theme. The mirror in the dining room doubles everything--including the clutter. You may want to remove it and put up a chair rail on the wall. Then you could paint the top part a warm accent color.

i agree w/ mvross: declutter. then, decide on a color scheme. u have black furniture and white walls--a cool scheme--but ur wood floors are warm. which way do u want to go? i think u cd keep all, choose black/white as ur dominant scheme, lay a white area rug under ur main black furniture grouping, and choose one bright color to scatter here and there as an accent. and definitely paint over that fireplace screen!

I agree about the mirrored wall it is not doing you any favors. If removing it is not an optoin maybe you could hang fabric making it appear as if there is a door behind it. How about a nice magazine rack on the side of the couch or chair to remove the horizontal clutter off the coffee table.
