The two branchy trees stand out and is the initial thing you see. Consider replacing those trees with 2- 3' greenery that are fuller and will allow our eyes to see the beautiful grass. I agree with John that flower boxes would be a quick way to add color.
Have you considered stamped concrete on the driveway and walkway.Maybe some accent molding around your windows would add character to the front. The white trees definitely should get replaced with something fuller.
Lovely and well-manicured. But so square. What about a mounded and curved island of plantings in the lawn? Kidney-shaped with edging for easier mowing. Or what about making the existing planting areas more curve-shaped? Movement would be nice. Good luck with it.
Tammylem said it and I will emphasis. We have a landscaped lawn that is stricking to everyone who comes by - even total strangers have commented. It is well groomed and green just as yours is but it also has the kidney-shapped mounds. Some have a different grass in it (I think it is called mondo grass) with a collection of palm sized smooth stones that lay flat next to each other and maybe a bush that gives colorful flowers. If I were looking to make changes I would explore my neighborhood and others to see what they did to make their yard intersting. I would plot a yard plan similar to what I would do for a room. Then I would take my ideas to a nursery and get feedback on plants that would be best for the yard. Your yard looks nice now and shows care. You want it to to be more interesting - have fun with it!
It needs interest, different levels, colors, more harmonious
flow between areas, and a wider walkway, with a welcoming
form, perhaps curved. I have an excellent landscaper who
knows how to do this, but on your own, it could be done with
just a little augmenting and adjusting.
The two trees are too tall to be next to house, and look out of place. Take trees out, replace with lower shrubs, perhaps blooming plants. Replace existing walkway with curved walkway out of some type of interesting pavers, and if in budget, replace driveway with same pavers.
I appreciate your comments. I liked the idea of mounded areas, however, we have children and they like to play in the front yard. Our neighbors down the street put in a picket type fence that is very cute. Maybe something like that and add shutters as Lissa said would spice it up a bit. You are right about the trees though jill, I haven't liked them either. They were not suppose to get that tall. Thanks for the imput.

The lawn looks beautiful. How about adding flower boxes or adding colorful flowers to the existing greenery along the house?
