Week 2 Winners - Cadelinia Family of Hawaii Kai

The Cadelinia Family
Donna, Steven, Noah, and Madison

Donna Cadelinia was in disbelief when she got the call from RSVPstyle: she had just won a $299 Deluxe Style Kit, $2000 in living room flooring from EuroFloor and professional installation from Hawaii Hardwood Flooring. “Yay!” she squealed. “I was shocked—I couldn’t believe it. I’ve never won anything in my life!”

Her husband, Steven, was even more shocked—he didn’t know Donna had entered a contest. “He kept saying, ‘Really? You’re kidding! What did you do?!’”

For Donna, the second weekly runner-up winner of RSVPstyle and The Honolulu Advertiser’s $30,000 Style My Room contest, the best part was that flooring was exactly what she and Steven had been wishing for.

Just the living room with the red couches, Boring.

When the couple and their two kids, Madison, 14, and Noah, 9, moved into their Hawaii Kai home three years ago, the carpet was a beige-white. But with a Golden Retriever and the kids and their 29 friends romping over it all the time, the carpet has gradually changed to a stronger shade of…well, dirt.

“We used all the money we had to move in to this home, so we’re not in a position to renovate,” says Donna. “We always thought that when we got the funds together, we would put in some laminate wood floors. We never knew when the day would come—this is the perfect prize for us!”

Even better, the floors will be high-quality European product from EuroFloor. “Our hardwood floors are not treated with formaldehyde or other toxins out in the marketplace,” explains EuroFloor’s Steve Langford. “Our wood is safe for cribs, children’s toys, food service areas. So it’s perfect for the Cadelinias, having a dog and so many kids around.”

Chris Brenna of Hawai‘i Hardwood Flooring is looking forward to providing professional service that busy island families count on. “We install floors as if we were working on our own home,” he says. “People have so much going on now that we don’t want to add to the list of things they have to worry about!”

Donna was in the faculty room at Waldorf School, where she currently teaches second grade, when she spotted an article about the contest on the front page of The Honolulu Advertiser’s Island Life section. She entered online when she got home but didn’t tell Steven, who was still at his job at CNS Wholesale Distributors in Campbell Industrial Park.

“I can’t wait to see how the floors will turn out,” says Donna. “I can imagine that it will look cleaner and bigger with wooden floors, and will make us want to change furniture even more!”

Five more runner-up winners like the Cadelinias and La Rena and Derrell Saul, who won last week, will be chosen. At the end of the contest, 10 finalists will be selected, and of these, one winner will receive the $30,000 Grand Prize.
